There are restricted regions in Indonesia. The four regions are: Maluku, Poso, and Irian Jaya/West Papua. Applicants seeking to visit the restricted regions must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities.

Contact your sponsor or counterpart in Indonesia – this could be a hotel, travel agent or an individual – to pursue the Authorization (Otorisasi) at the Clearing House of the Department of Foreign Affairs or with Indonesian Immigration. 2. Once the Authorization has been approved, the original will be sent to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate nearest to you – to apply with VisaHQ it must be sent to the Embassy in Washington DC. A Notification (Pemberitahuan) of the approval is sent to your sponsor in Indonesia. Your sponsor needs to send this document to you to present with your application.

Passengers transiting through Jakarta (CGK) with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 24 hours do not need visa. They must stay in the international transit area of the airport and have documents required for the next destination. TWOV between terminals must be pre-arranged by carrier.
